I thought this was supposed to be an El Nino year. We haven't gotten a lot of rain this year either.

Last night's Wednesday Chat featured lots of laughs, some surprisingly competitive trivia, and what investigators are now calling the Question #6 Scandal.
Congratulations to @laddyd on an absolutely dominant victory.
And I do mean dominant.
Laddy crushed the field so thoroughly that apparently he could afford to have points taken away from him and still win.
Which brings us to Question #6.
The question:
Which U.S. holiday marks the unofficial beginning of summer?
@Shane Karmann answered:
A — Labor Day
@laddyd answered:
C — Memorial Day
@curious2garden immediately announced:
"Shane nailed it."
There was just one tiny problem.
Shane had, in fact, not nailed it.
Labor Day traditionally marks the unofficial END of summer.
Memorial Day was the correct answer.
I immediately objected.
I believe my exact words were:
"that's the end of summer"
followed shortly thereafter by the customary:
"rigged"
Laddy even calmly confirmed that Memorial Day was indeed correct.
Surely the score would be corrected.
It was not.
For reasons still unknown, Laddy's point remained in Shane's possession for the entire rest of the evening, while Annie continued happily keeping score completely unaware that she'd created the biggest officiating scandal since... well... probably our last Wednesday Chat.
Fortunately, Laddy apparently decided the best response to having a point stolen was to simply keep answering questions correctly.
He won anyway.
Respect.
The stolen point did, however, have serious implications further down the leaderboard.
At one glorious moment, I pulled into sole possession of second place.
Did I handle this achievement with grace and humility?
Absolutely not.
I immediately posted a celebratory GIF and informed everyone:
"suckers"
When @laddyd complained that I'd caught him with his cursor off, I graciously responded:
"only I am second"
This statement aged beautifully.
Because by the end of the evening, @Shane Karmann and I were tied for second.
WITH LADDY'S POINT.
Ladies and gentlemen...
I submit that I am therefore the rightful second-place finisher.
The GrowDolls Championship Committee has reviewed the evidence, consulted absolutely nobody, and reached the following official results:
Champion — @laddyd
Second — Laughing Grass
Third — @Shane Karmann*
*Shane's final score included one point that forensic investigators have determined belonged to another contestant.
No accusations are being made at this time.
But many people are asking questions.
Very smart people.
Meanwhile, @curious2garden maintains that the scoring was conducted fairly and accurately.
Mostly because I don't think she knew any of this happened until this morning.
