Last night's Wednesday Chat featured lots of laughs, some surprisingly competitive trivia, and what investigators are now calling the Question #6 Scandal.

Congratulations to @laddyd on an absolutely dominant victory.

And I do mean dominant.

Laddy crushed the field so thoroughly that apparently he could afford to have points taken away from him and still win.

Which brings us to Question #6.

The question:

Which U.S. holiday marks the unofficial beginning of summer?

@Shane Karmann answered:

A — Labor Day

@laddyd answered:

C — Memorial Day

@curious2garden immediately announced:

"Shane nailed it."

There was just one tiny problem.

Shane had, in fact, not nailed it.

Labor Day traditionally marks the unofficial END of summer.

Memorial Day was the correct answer.

I immediately objected.

I believe my exact words were:

"that's the end of summer"

followed shortly thereafter by the customary:

"rigged"

Laddy even calmly confirmed that Memorial Day was indeed correct.

Surely the score would be corrected.

It was not.

🤣

For reasons still unknown, Laddy's point remained in Shane's possession for the entire rest of the evening, while Annie continued happily keeping score completely unaware that she'd created the biggest officiating scandal since... well... probably our last Wednesday Chat.

Fortunately, Laddy apparently decided the best response to having a point stolen was to simply keep answering questions correctly.

He won anyway.

Respect.

The stolen point did, however, have serious implications further down the leaderboard.

At one glorious moment, I pulled into sole possession of second place.

Did I handle this achievement with grace and humility?

Absolutely not.

I immediately posted a celebratory GIF and informed everyone:

"suckers"

When @laddyd complained that I'd caught him with his cursor off, I graciously responded:

"only I am second"

This statement aged beautifully.

Because by the end of the evening, @Shane Karmann and I were tied for second.

WITH LADDY'S POINT.

Ladies and gentlemen...

I submit that I am therefore the rightful second-place finisher.

The GrowDolls Championship Committee has reviewed the evidence, consulted absolutely nobody, and reached the following official results:

🏆 Champion — @laddyd

🥈 Second — Laughing Grass

🥉 Third — @Shane Karmann*

*Shane's final score included one point that forensic investigators have determined belonged to another contestant.

No accusations are being made at this time.

But many people are asking questions.

Very smart people.

Meanwhile, @curious2garden maintains that the scoring was conducted fairly and accurately.

Mostly because I don't think she knew any of this happened until this morning.

🤣

Thanks everyone for another fantastic Wednesday night.

The conversation was great.

The laughs were plentiful.

Laddy absolutely crushed us.

And after a comprehensive review of the evidence, I am pleased to announce that Wednesday Chat remains...

TOTALLY RIGGED.
OMG that really happened!! In my defense I obviously grow better weed then even I thought! But don't worry you lived to see karma find me for my earlier profligacy. I have 6 rescue dogs and the largest one barfed a huge pool in my tiled foyer. So I'm scrambling fighting all 6 of them for the vomit. Luckily I won but it was close. So have no fear I have learned that the error of my ways even sickens my dogs and I will try never to be caught doing that again!

How are the puppers doing today?

I'll be back in the host chair tonight, and in celebration of Google's IPO anniversary, I've prepared a special round of:

Obscure Google History Trivia

And when I say obscure...

I mean I'M THE HOST AND I DIDN'T KNOW ANY OF THIS SHIT.

So tonight we're abandoning knowledge and embracing the time-honored academic tradition of confidently guessing A, B, C or D and hoping for the best.

There will be weird Google history.

There will be questionable corporate decisions.

There will almost certainly be accusations that the game is rigged.

And following last week's unfortunate scoring irregularities, the GrowDolls Championship Committee has implemented an important new rule:

Points will only be awarded for CORRECT answers.

I realize this represents a dramatic departure from @curious2garden's innovative scoring system, where @Shane Karmann was successfully awarded a point for @laddyd correctly answering the question.

But sometimes progress requires difficult decisions.

For transparency, tonight's scorekeeping will be conducted under strict international supervision.

By me.

So obviously we're fine.

Come hang out, laugh, talk grows and take wild guesses at Google trivia that absolutely nobody has any business knowing.

@laddyd enters as defending champion.

@Shane Karmann enters without Laddy's bonus point.

@curious2garden has been relieved of officiating duties pending completion of the investigation.

And everyone else has roughly the same chance of winning because...

seriously, nobody is going to know this shit.

See you tonight! 😄

I think I'm just going to say it...

Last night's Wednesday Chat might have been our best one yet.

It wasn't our biggest turnout, but the conversation was flowing, the laughs were constant, and Obscure Google History Trivia turned out to be exactly as ridiculous as advertised.

We knew we were in trouble on Question #1.

Before becoming Google, what was Google's original name?

The answer:

BackRub.

I revealed the answer.

Annie confirmed it.

And @Shane Karmann STILL wasn't convinced.

"But wait, really it was backrub??"

Yes, Shane.

Really.

And that pretty much established the educational standard for the rest of the evening.

Nobody knew shit.

🤣

Going into the game, Shane predicted a bloodbath.

@curious2garden seemed suspiciously confident.

Instead, we ended up with one of the closest games we've had in a long time.

Only one point separated each finishing position.

@DMChiz and @Shane Karmann tied for third.

Annie finished second.

And @laddyd...

WON. AGAIN.

That's THREE IN A ROW.

We may officially have a dynasty on our hands.

But getting there required something extraordinary.

Something unprecedented.

Something I genuinely wasn't sure I'd ever witness during Wednesday Chat.

ANNIE AGREED TO A TIEBREAKER.

Here's what happened.

On Question #10, Annie initially gave the correct answer...

...and then changed it.

Unfortunately, I'd already announced that she was correct before noticing the change.

So I gave her a choice:

Accept the changed answer and let Laddy take the championship...

OR SETTLE IT WITH A TIEBREAKER.

Now longtime Wednesday Chat participants understand the historical significance of what happened next.

Annie.

The woman who has spent what feels like YEARS treating tiebreakers as an unnecessary administrative burden...

CHOSE THE TIEBREAKER.

I even asked if she was sure.

Her response:

"Tie breaker it."

Ladies and gentlemen, democracy works.

🤣

Unfortunately for Annie, history will record that after finally embracing the tiebreaker...

she lost it.

Laddy completed the threepeat.

Beautiful.

Meanwhile, @DarkWeb delivered another classic DarkWeb performance.

He didn't correctly answer a single question.

Naturally, this was not his fault.

First, the trivia images were apparently difficult to read.

Fair enough.

Being the accommodating host that I am, I switched formats and started posting the questions as nice, large text.

DarkWeb's assessment of the new format?

The font was too big.

🤣

I CHECKED IT ON MY PHONE!

It looked fantastic!

At this point I'm beginning to suspect DarkWeb doesn't actually want technical support.

I think he just enjoys filing complaints with management.

And frankly, Wednesday Chat wouldn't be the same without him.

So congratulations to our final podium:

🏆 @laddyd — Champion and THREEPEAT

🥈 @curious2garden — Second place and newly converted tiebreaker enthusiast

🥉 @Shane Karmann & @DMChiz — Third place

And @DarkWeb...

📋 Customer Relations Department

Thanks everyone for an absolutely fantastic night.

We learned that Google used to be called BackRub.

We learned that nobody knows anything about Google despite using it every single day.

We learned that even Annie will demand a tiebreaker when a championship is on the line.

And most importantly...

EVERY POINT AWARDED LAST NIGHT WAS FOR A CORRECT ANSWER.

We're making progress.

See you freaks next Wednesday. 😄

Hey who am I to deny you the pleasure of your 11th question. Also I'm perfectly comfortable with multiple winners :) and I think we should even consider a badge for most ties! I acknowledge the superiority of our members!! (even/especially when high).

I almost missed the last question. lightning knocked out power out momentarily.I had to wait for the router to reboot.

I left that out of my summery!

the tiebreaker questions was how many shares were made available in Google's 2004 IPO.

Annie guessed 1m shares,

After a long pause @laddyd in a move that would have made Bob Barker blush, guessed 1,000,001 shares.
