Day 11 in the system some strawberries are flowering. Very vigorous although I pulled one that wasn't growing and it had some root slime and no new growth. I don't think active root rot, it just died and started decaying. Only half of the 25 plants I bought were viable, at least not for hydro. I believe I'll go buy some Pool Shock and change the res.

Day 17! One week to first salad! Right now I'm pursuing a five heads a week schedule. I have 3 'generations' going now, so I need to start 5 more to plug in next week.

Strawberries are doing their thing too. More blossoms and runners are forming. They seem to require less root mass than lettuce, maybe that will change. Very hopeful of success.

I solved a problem I had with water splashing and flooding the lid of my res. A visit to the plumbing aisle at Ace fixed me right up.

Hydro lettuce is different from what I grow in the ground. The leaves are almost stiff with water. It's crunchy to eat. I think the red does better under the lights. A soft green bibb style is getting slightly burnt leaf edges on the top rail. The red just loves it.

Gradually moving them to the top rails. I think they look great, very vigorous, lots of runners and blossoms forming. Fun to watch.

My beans just popped the surface. I wasn't gonna even have a garden this year because I was so fed up with the groundhog problem. But the other day the one that's been the most recent problem got hit and killed by a car. So I planted. There's others but they haven't been as brave to get so close.

Trashed the remaining soft green lettuce. That does not like the light intensity at all. The Red Garnet wants more. The core of this was weird and ingrown like the new leaves came out and went ew, no.

The recent rain and heat has been great for my garden. Beans, cukes, toms and eggplant are really thriving. We've bought two more arches to go more vertical than ever, should be here next week. I love changing it up every year.
