Whatcha thinking about getting? So easy to get sucked down the rabbit hole. I already have high clearance metal bars to install for the 4 link suspension on the Jeep, lol

Right around the same scale you have. How do you like them? That's a Redcat and a Axial?

These look cool

But so does this one lol

Yup! It’s the redcat ascent 18, SUPER capable out the box… I have yet to get brass wheels and stickier tires for it, but soon! I wanted a chance to run it a bunch before I upgrade it, so I can see the difference the upgrades make.

And the jeep is actually a $70 clone of a Traxxis TRX4M I bought on AliExpress. It’s called the JJRC c8801. The parts are almost all interchangeable, so that’s where I got the metal links to upgrade it. It is also super capable, but needs oil filled shocks instead of the friction shocks it comes with.

Its also called the jjrc c8809, but the c8809 is the exact same car chassis and guts, with a different body. It also goes by the name of the Austar AX 8560. Same car, different ā€œbrandā€ā€¦but the same car. It is hobby grade too, for sure.

Yeah, I know lol.....I have a ton of stuff still for the rc10t. A box of carpet car bodies.....and a carpet mini car. My son has a bunch of stuff. But everything breaks quick and I want something I can replace/upgrade the parts. I might even resurrect the rc10t :smokin:
Hell yeah, that was one of my main criteria…something hobby grade that I could repair and upgrade.

@DarkWeb for the price though, the redcat ascent 18 is one of the best cars you can get out of the box.

If you wanna spend a bit more, look at the new version of the hobby plus CR18P pro. The ā€œjuiced upā€ edition. Brushless out the box, 3s capable…haha gotta talk myself out of it every time I see it.

That cr18p pro is very capable. I'm just watching some videos....very impressive

Yeah, when I first saw it, I’m like ā€œwell, I have two 1/18 crawlers…I probably don’t need a third one, right?ā€

Then proceeded to watch several hours of footage on the cr18p pro… 🤣

Probably gonna get a brushless kit for the ascent 18…that and some brass wheels, then a servo that can handle the extra weight…maybe overdrive/underdrive gears for the portal axles…and try to get the weigh bias towards the front closer to 60/40
