Random Stream of Consciousness

As long as there is all this talk about eats ...

Mrs. S already has a plan for dinner and it doesn't involve me cookin' jack. Just a quick trip to the expanding Hamlet Of Brooklin. ( Thank you, Highway 407 ).

I'll be passing on them Dry Rubs and go 1 lb. each of Sweet Chili and Whisky BBQ.

We got invasive bamboo here that if you don't mow the next week it's like three ft tall. You would need a whole day to clear a decent area, seed and topsoil. Neighbor has a bunch looks just like the stuff people buy for stakes when dried.
Bamboo or Japanese knotweed?

Giant knotweed is how we get regalia.

You can't get rid of it. It's super invasive.

Funny thing I think about is my first few years of growing outdoors in the 90's-00's I had my plants "hidden" in patches of this. And always wonder if that was why I had succeeded.

When we bought our place it was overrun with pagoda dogwood, wild plum and wild black raspberries. None of those can be seen now but if we abandoned care, it would all come back in a few years
Every spring, we gotta keep the forest from taking over the back yard - and most of the shit we clear out are those new raspberry shoots! Even the wee ones have killer thorns.

Nope it's bamboo, that's probably why he ordered it 25 year's ago. He had a crew come in dig and seed but there's one or two single baby ones now it's starting again. I just took a pic of a baby shoot I pulled out. This stuff grows thick and super tall like 12 ft plus leaves.
