I thought that was Amelia Earhart

Not yet. I just started the citizen by ancestry process. If all goes well, and I can't see why it wouldn't I should have my Greek citizenship around December - January. I'll have to go to the embassy in Ottawa for my oath. You can't do that at the Toronto consulate for some reason.

My interview is set for Jan 29, taking a little longer than they said.

Hmmm ... this kind of stuff is catching I see. We were told something similar - that Mrs. Cronk's renunciation process would also have to be at an external site cause the U.S. Consulate on University Ave could not process said actions.

Fair deal - so we were on the WestJet site and we were ready to pull the trigger on purchasing tickets to either Frankfurt or Curacao cause their U.S. Embassy could process the renunciation much quicker. The mouse was over the BUY button when we got the call that the appointment was already made for us ... at the U.S. Consulate on University Ave.

It's the day before my birthday and a bunch of my family is in Ottawa so I can make it work. Maybe swings some presents too ;)

I can relate. When my daughter was very young she used to write love notes to family members and wrap them as presents. As she got a bit older she used to make a list and give store where available along with price. Very specific requests. Her birthday is near Christmas so it made sense.

My brother was born in Turkey. Same deal. He's 70 now, probably safe!
That's why my Dad ended up in the London, ON area.

He was born in Eskisehir, Turkey and in 1955, he bailed out on the Turkish Air Force who were doing flat terrain training outside of Moosejaw, Sask. They were in the middle of active pilot training. The air force returned home after 24 months ... he stayed in Appleton-Glencoe. The Turkish military doesn't like it when their trainees go AWOL. If he even NEARED any Turkish border they would have nabbed him for desertion. But today he is also safe ...

... cause he died 20 years ago.
