Rocket Souls led lab

21 days, week 3 update.
Plants are at around 1300ppfd, 30C 50-55% rh.

La Bella has sorta taken over a lot of space on the right.

Looking great, fattening up and connecting. Getting some trichome rails already.

Left / right: looks fairly equal, hard to see and possibly placebo but maybe a bit more chunkiness on the left side. Its hard to judge as colors are slightly off with the spectrum being a bit purple. What do you think?
lookin good man! dang look how skinny those sativa leaves are on the one cultivar!

La Bella / Reina Madre have the full sativa thing going on, stretchy, thin leaves and an incredible energetic anti procrastination high - all in a fast flowering package, 8 weeks normally.

I think my buddy wants to do a cross with this and one of the phenos in the tent, not sure if this run pr the next.

Been in touch with my growbuddy over the weekend for sone details on the uv configuration; my buddy is doing a deep dive into it woth his new ai agent. We also talked a bit about IR diodes and testing things out. No pics until Wednesday/4 week update but main take away is that the bud development is going really fast and my guy is very excited about the grow and the results.

This is infact one of the main design points or goals with designing this light:
It has to feel exciting to grow with it, feel like the plants act and grow differently - better - than any light you tried before. I think its achieving this so very happy about how things are going

4 week update 28 days in. Grow is at +1300ppfd, heat wave here in spain with peaks of 33C in the tent is unfortunate but hard to avoid during the summer.
Also hard to get decent pics with the almost blurple spectrum.

Left 680: looks a bit better developed but no real difference in smells

Right side 660 is no slouch. Dominated by the front sativa.

The resin coverage looks great for 4 weeks only - its partly genetic partly the light. Uvb has been upped to 125mA (150mA is max) over 16 diodes total for 4 x 20 mins around midday.

Change of pace tonight
For anyone wanting to hear about the crazy 90ies in Scando narrated by a funny Scotsman. And yes, it is all true, it played out in front of us all in news and Tv in the most surreal, scary but above all funny way.

Its hot AF here, yesterday i had an impulse: since its about 27C or more why not try out the strips thermals since this is pretty much what they would encounter in a growspace. Took 3 strips and connected it to my 300w meanwell - the lit up wo bright i had stars on the inside of my eyelid for 20mins. That old familiar feeling :)

Strips and sinks heated up a fair bit: they were definitely hot to touch but not ouch hot - easily doable and within spec but outside of what i would call comfortable. Maybe with 3mm thick profiles instead of 2mm.
But good to know that the possibility is there.

Wednesday update, 5 weeks/35 days- the pics are in. The intense heat wave has messed with VPD a bit, some tacoing and La Bella has some tip burn, shes a light feeder comparatively with the rest of the tent.
My buddy describes leftside/680 as "just a bit better in anyway he can think of"

Ppfd around 1325 in hw centre with sides and corners around +1000.

Its worth mentioning that mono supplemention is not the only difference between left and right: left side uses mixed standard 90cri with s90 narrowbands: this generates a slight peak around 630-640nm which makes it the highest peak in the spectrum. It also boosts green a slight bit.

This one looks almost done at 5 weeks! though id need to confirm: some phenos throw orange pistils that later turn brown, might be just a mirage.
Edit: my buddy confirms this is his most fast flowering pheno, its almost an auto which sometimes, if left too long as mother, will throw preflowers in 18/6 veg cycle. It will be left to over mature a bit.

Still a bit to go, and you can see some unhappy leaves from la bella

Lots of resin rails.

The first LED panel that I actually grew fair amounts was a 357 Magnum which had a lot of blues and more 630nm and 660nm as well as a few greens they called “white”, I think that light had 6 loud fans. Made very frosty nugs but nothing to compare to nowadays. That was like 2012ish.

This would be before my time in the led world, never seen that light before but it seems to get quite a bit of love from old posters. Spectrum coverage all the way up to 680nm is a nice flex for a 2010ish led light.

6 week update / 42 days - the grow looks mostly finished which is a bit bonkers. Ppfd in 1350s, 31 C /50Rh

Nute burn problem has been reigned in, la Bella is now on separate and slightly lighter nutes. Harvest on sunday next week, cant wait.

Right 660 - my buddy comments that 660 side looks clearly slower and somewhat lighter buds. Will check in person and possibly exchange the strips for 2700k 90 cri + 2x640 + 680: next challenger up.

Its very hard to get a real representation of color due to all the reds and blues.
Enjoy

Lights out flash photography would be welcome!

7 weeks / 49 days update.
Ppfd lowered to around 1100 by reducing whites/reds on both sides - full blue/uva for finishing. Not sure about uvb protocol but i know its been on the increase as we finish up.
Edit: uvb is at 125mA per diode for approx 25mW x 16 of output, for 2hr total in 30min bursts.
Theres been a lot more heat, up to 36, and a power failure which messed up the portable ac sensor for a bit. Not ideal and it will likely hit yield somewhat but under control now. La Bella has had her longer top buds tied up a bit and is gaining weight but will take a week and a bit to finish up.
By eye and without any numbers in: The left/680 is not a clear winner anymore as the right/660 side has been catching up and fattening out buds. But the 680 side is more matured and finished. Will be exciting to see and smell in person next week. Here are the pics:

Rightside and right diagonal, La bella takes up a lot of space and got burnt from over transpiration. This grow has combined new lights with lower green and higher potential for photo transpiration with new location in much dryer environment and a couple of heat waves; overfeeding due to much more aggressive transpiration has been an issue. Last place was so humid that adding rh was never an issue. Humidfier and likely also a new watering system is coming up for next round.

Heres the budshots with decent color ;)
Enjoy
