Rice Hulls (CRH)

As you pick it up and drop it, does it have a new sound…..kinda like tinkling similar to the sound of broken Christmas ornaments. And does it have a shimmer like a iridescence….. in a strange way it has a color that makes a sound.

I’ll try to make a video of what I mean in the next few days.
It does have a strange color. It shrunk down in size as well. I also noticed a thin white ash poof into the Air when I stirred up the tin.

I think my mind understands that sound, like a hollow but crisp sound. :smokin:

So what do you do with it now ? Do you break it down finer or just mix it in with soil and/mycos?

Do beware of breathing the dust, don’t want you to get black lung.

I got HP pro mix with mycos in it. Just going to mix 3 gallon dirt to 1 gallon RCH. I will use Dr. Earth dry amendments and try to treat it simple.

I'm also planning to do some hydro Solo cups and outdoor gardening. Probably still a few weeks out from doing all this lol.

Trying to get my house ready for renting out and my seedlings aren't ready yet. :eyesmoke:

How I am going to Grow a Plant in a Solo Cup of CRH Using a Peat Pod Starter.

I will start by placing and seed in a moistened peat pod and keep it in a warm, bright spot.

Once the seed germinates and the seedling develops its first true leaves, it’s ready to transplant. I will prepare a Solo cup by poking drainage holes in the bottom, then fill it with carbonized rice hulls (CRH). Make a small hole in the CRH and gently place the entire peat pod into it. Then lightly pack the CRH around the pod to keep it stable.

Water until the CRH is evenly moist. Since CRH doesn’t contain nutrients, begin feeding with a diluted liquid fertilizer. I plan on using a liquid fish fertilizer. As the plant matures I'm going to change the fertilizer.

I will need to set up automation for feed and water due to the fact CRH dries out quickly and will not retain moisture as well. I plan to not pH test the water unless necessary.

I will keep my plants in the Solo cups growing one single Bud per cup. This is will be in a 2x2 tent using my 150w Vipar light.

Have you done or tried anything like this before ? With a different medium but in a small container.

I found it difficult, over at RIU we used to do solo cup contest and I never officially completed but I secretly attempted it and it was not easy for me. However I did get a little better…I used a wicking system to meditate the drying out. But as you know it a razor thin line between wet and dry when it’s in such a small container. I can’t wait to see you ace this, you’ll do great. Ohh I had better luck with the one bud per pot when I was doing it from clones. And light penetration shouldn’t be an issue lol.

Good luck.

I've done a fair bit of killing plants lol. Solo cups can be a pain in the butt. These two went pretty well. I used a rice hull an HP pro mix. No pH with a Jack Citrus feed.

I actually got quite a bit of smoke off those two cups and I've always wanted to do a tentful lol.

That’s impressive…. I definitely will not be competing against you in any solo cup contest.

OMG!! I'd be stressed beyond belief! My kids rented their house and went to Brazil to spend some time with her family. It's working nicely for them. I hope it works as well for you.
Thanks! We have a lot of stuff to do, so much clutter and painting. It'll be nice when it's over.

Sounds like your kids are having fun. My wife beat cancer and we decided to go live life. We are about to live out of a RV and travel for a bit.

Dude I’m so happy for y’all. Go enjoy life while you can.

I lived in rv’s off and on for years doing traveling construction. Lots of adventure…some good and some scary af….bad weather and stuff like that mostly was the sketchy part.

My 8th year anniversary of beating cancer (for the second time) is 5/3. Give your wife a big hug and go enjoy life! Wow just counted and August will be 41 years since my first dx! Give this to her from me:
