And the trees are super stunted because of years of soil contamination from all the smelting - which is what made it smell bad. They are trying to recondition the soil ... but that's gonna be a slow crawl back to decent sized trees. One would think that living here would convince all the locals to smoke more weed ...

Al Capone? My father claimed his father used to deliver beer for Al in Calumet City where my dad grew up. Later he was a janitor at the Chicago Civic Opera House which opened in 1929, the year dad was born.
