Random Stream of Consciousness

Development of space hardware is intense. Many types of required test that are performed throughout the US and take months/years. Pyro-shock was always fun in Santa Clarita, California as was the underwater test in Houston at NASA NBL. I loved and miss the work.

Edit: I was never underwater as that was the astronauts job along with the divers. Ensuring our hardware could be installed in zero gravity.
I have a customer who's gone from making solar umbrellas for satellites to these new "Hypersonic Inflatable Aerodynamic Decelerator"
The LOFTID launches are low altitude tests of HIAD re-entry payloads.

I am just a goblin in my goblin lair. Working on a more efficient use of space but being maximally inefficient!

I worked for a foundry/machine shop/heat treat shop in Salt Lake. Typical Job shop, we would do anything to get the coon.
We got a job for the grates in the ovens that burned off the nerve agents at Dugway. Some of the scrap we melted were 155MM artillery shells that had just had VX and GB burned out of them. I thought about keeping one of the shells for a souvenir but it was just too morbid. It was good steel so we melted them down. Kind of like beating weapons into plowshares in a way.
We also did the commemorative Olympic manhole covers for the whole city when Salt Lake got the winter Olympics.

Went to the brewpub yesterday, they got a great russian style stout. Big release party with food truck and tunes usually.
This season's barrel aged stout was made from 2 different barrels. Dark and creamy, notice a new flavor every sip.
First in oak barrels for Port wine, then in applewood barrels used for Irish rye whiskey. Last year was rum barrels.
So many complex flavors and undertones, aftertastes.
