Whip-it-Out

Pics from my buddies test grow featuring my own designed lighting. First day at flower schedule, he does the transition redcuing 1h /day instead of straight to 12/12. Infact i think he uses 12.5/11.5 until last two weeks were he slowly goes down to 10.5h of light.

All going well, nothing new, only issue is higher water consumption than the old setup but could be that the new space its in is a bit more dry.
Looking healthy AF, light levels are already around 975 ppfd in the centre with full 150w of wide blue/uv sup for stretch control. He pushes his grow quite hard, around 1200 ppfd normally but theres enough power to take things up to 1500. In the old grow i was working with we would rarely hit this high intensity, +900ish, in midflower and always get problems if we pushed this hard - here were on day one of flower and everything looks healthy and not over litt. Looking forwards to see how they bud.

Ive looked and looked but not found any differences between left side and right side in veg, and nor does my buddy. Extra special props to anyone who can see a definite difference as the spectrum is a bit different.

Transplanted tomatoes today, peppers are going outside in a cold frame tomorrow.
Appalachian regs getting moved to 4x4, and germinating 6 various plants for outdoor.
I have to take the tube extension off the AC Infinity soil sensor and use a bamboo stick, using FloraCaps.

Starting another batch of flowers and pot tomorrow. Only have 2 fems started.
Need 4 females indoor (all the Appys), 4-6 various outdoor plus an Appy male.

Just curious how people grow giant plants in solo cups? Here's two different strains and this small one just stopped growing so I transplanted and in 10 days filled with roots. Other one was fine and twice the size. I don't get how so many growers don't have problems with growth with roots. I've seen nice plants grown in them.

Here we are at 2 weeks. They've been kind of droopy. We have lots of roots poking out the bottom. Methinks it's time to up pot.
Pictured:
A couple of polar gelato, 6 gelato 41 x dancing lime, a couple of kosher kush x dancing lime, a couple of slymers that caught some stray pollen, 3 macaroon x gazurple x dancing lime and 3 mojitos.

They are showing a little bit of late flower cannabilism but there are still a TON of green leaves up and down each plant. And this thought just CLANKED into the noodle ... trim jail should take significantly longer.

A few other items of note with this grow:
  • there are substantially sized flowers 16" down from the top of the branch. Both plants! That never happened before.
  • the smell is far stronger - almost like those couple of times Max got sprayed. And as dog owners, we all know that smell.

I have been 1000% convinced Grow Dolls that proper pH, slightly lower EC / feed quantities and sufficient runoff really does work. I truly appreciate those who corrected the errors of my ways.

Nice!

I got a look at the root systems on a couple of the biggest plants. They are not ready for transplant yet. I'm thinking another week.
In the mean time I have upped the feed from 1/2 tsp per gallon to 1 tsp [MaxiGro]. They looked like they were a little lighter green than they should be. I continue to battle low humidity. It's been much cooler than usual here. I haven't wanted to fire up the swamp cooler until it gets hotter. At that point humidity won't be a problem but heat might. Ah the continuing struggles at Laddys desert grow lab. Left tray has 6 g41dl 2 polar gelato and one slymer Right tray is kkdl, mcpdl, mgdl and 1 slymer.

That top right ps one looks like mine and stopped growing from root bound. Then true leaves and next set turned kinda white so I snipped off and repotted and everything is green in some fox farms type soil. Been a week, wondering if should still feed with a 6-4-4. Never had such a fussy plant this early.

I up potted last night. Almost 3 weeks old, they were ready. All had nice developed root balls. I almost had too good drainage, they were drying out and getting droopy in a day. I will let them recover for a couple more days and then it will be time to switch to 12 12 and cull the males. Have included a picture with plaid pants because Curious asked for it.
