Shane's Vegetable Farm

Here we go. I didn't get the best germination but that's probably a good thing. Lettuce tsunami in 4 or 5 weeks. Going to start some spinach now.

i have plugs for the unused holes.

It will seem slow for a while but they are pushing out one new leaf every day or so. I'd say in a week these are going to start really taking off.

I started some chijimisai, a Japanese leafy green similar to spinach but much more heat tolerant and abundant. We grow it outdoors every year. Great for stir fry. Those seeds popped in under 24 hours, hope I can plug them into the system in a week.

My res is currently running continuously, it's 300ppm tap water plus Maxigrow and a splash of calmag totalling 900ppm.

I got some black tubing to act like a sleeve over the clear. They were getting pretty green!

Lettuce is happening. I brought the light closer, hope the top rows can handle it. I don't know why I didn't do this before. If I was a teacher, I'd have one of these in my classroom.

I'm still growing cannabis, I'm waiting for things to get a little further along then I'll start another journal for tthat. I have 4 clones just starting to catch a little growth into 3 gallon pots. I like to flower small so I'll probably flip to flower in 10 days or so. 2 Polar Gelato on the left and 2 Wonder Pie on the right. A favorite and a mystery freebie.

Lettuce is going nuts 24 days from starting seed. 13 days in the rails. I had some pipe insulation around, not quite the right size, but wrapped all the exposed white pipe. Black tubing arriving tomorrow. Need to refine my res lid. Might get something black with a decent lid. Brand suggestions welcome. 20 inch height or less and 20 gallons or so.

These are doubling every 2 days now.

I installed black supply lines on the pumps, discovered a spinach seed had gotten loose and washed into a pump and sprouted!

Chijimisai coming along. It should be a good crop for this system.

My res is down 10 gallons in 3 weeks. I imagine some of that is evaporation, but the plants speak for themselves. I may keep this going in the summer too. We shall see!
