Rocket Souls led lab

7 weeks update, theyll go until sunday for a few extra days all around. I think were on lowered ppfd by now and lights on 10 hours.

2nd test grow one week in:
Lots of stretch (this light doesnt have the blue channel of the first light), though it could also have to do with far red end of day. And in this grow stretch is quite welcome as it all gets tied down and trellised after stretch.
My grower comments on nice amount of growth, about 20 cm and good solid stems. In general happy plant language, leaf color and stance is looking good. Preflower signs already after aweek

Pics are somewhat close up as the main update was done thru video which i cant post. Maybe a screenshot.

Light levels: lower tops 480, higher up to 790ppfd.

Up in the mountains for harvest of the first test grow. Really good initial impression, probably the best looking harvest cannopy ive seen with my own eyes. Hoping for 1200 from the 4x4.
Ill add more pics as we go along.

My hand marks the depth of primary colas, got 40-50cm of pretty solid connecting buds.

Editing in a little later:
Another deep bud and one plant (of the lesser yielding) all trimmed up.

Pretty long buds even if this was one of the least favorable ones and having to go elevated.

This one was also quite impressive; full 7 x +10g tops with excellent trichome coverage: this one gooed up the scissors completely from just one plant (vrs 3 other before we had to clean it off). Surprising as it was one of the smaller ones going in. Still have the best colas left for cut/trim.

Having cut and trimmed the whole 16 my buddy is guessing 1120ish, a but more conservative. There was some larf and lower stuff in this grow.

This is the pic i was looking for; not wrist girth but arm girth- thickets and nicest bud of this grow, one top of 3 or 4 for this plant. Its been an absolute treat to harvest this one. Tomorrow we start building stuff, new plants going into the tent as type. The new veg tent means next cropp could be in around 9 weeks; 2 weeks of veg in final container plus 7 week flower. This process used to be 12 (or even 13 if drying in the main tent) - wevar gained almost 2 full flower cycles per year with the whole renovation of this grow. Very very pleased.

Veg for next run in the first test grow - clones taken and plants are in their final pot.

Then day 21 from the second test grow, looking good with around 700w from my top light with bloom boosters on and another 300w from under cannopy.

Lower tops are around 800ppfd with higher tops at considerable light levels - looks pretty much maxed out with nice color in the leaves. Im really happy my light is getting a run for its money :)

Looks like photons are about at
Yup, theres a bunch of them, lol 😂

I got a question, for you and everybody else regarding the "plant language" of the second test grow pics:
Leaves are praying like crazy, normally i always see this as a good sign but here the almost pointing straight up is making me doubt a bit. Could this be borderline overlit, especially the more stretchy tops?

To me that looks like stress. Leaves pointing straight up to limit surface area exposed to the light.

is he running c02?
No, but the grow is close to living quarters and is receiving some extra. Personally i think the "need co2 for +1000ppfd" is over stated - in first test grow my other buddy did 1350-1400 pretty much all the grow without problems and no extra co2. Yeah, i know i said wed get some co2 but in the end it wasnt possible in summer months due to extraction, winter will be sealed.

I'm using this light in a 5x5. I can get to about 700W at 24" before the plants find it too spicy.

What ppfd do you get from that?

From what i gather when it comes to pushing higher light intensities theres few things you can try and some things you must adjust:
- higher temps, metabolism depends on it
- higher plant nutrient uptake; this is not just dumping a bunch of nutrients in the root zone, you need the plant to uptake it, vpd/stretched leaves and all that.
- using the right genetics
-vegging with high intensity light- my first testers veg until his plants can handle 16h of 900ppfd - basicly a bit more than what most flower with. Also, vegging with a bunch of uv seems to make them harden up.
- using a plant centric spectrum

CO2- i dont think its a wonder cure for light shy plants if you are able to dial in all above but obviously it helps. The thibg to keep in mind is that co2 will close the stomata, inhibiting transpiration which is all essential - if you add it ypu may need to run slightly higher vpd. This is one of the reason for adding heat while running co2

Right now I'm running it at about 800ppfd today is the end of the first week of flower, I'll get to a max of about 900-1000. I use the same phantom meter that I've seen you using in some of pics. With this light on full I can get around 1400ppfd.

I run practically no veg. In my small tent I have a HLG Veg Pro that I keep pretty low. usually around 400-500ppfd. I harden off my clones in there, transfer to the big tent, veg for a few days then flip. They're usually 12" or less when I flip.

Ok, so confirmed - last grow was 1050g, a bit less than the first one. Very homogenous numbers most plants were 60+- a couple of grams. Outliers was the ones with more tops at 80g - all in the same space as the rest. They were mostly located in the middle.

We were hoping for more - but still a great result- +60g per square foot and 1.5 g/w at 700w. Quality was up quite a bit with loads of frost and stronger smell.

My buddy has identified cannopy management as the failing factor- we need more than 3-4 good tops per plant, 5-6 should do it. Capacity for 80g plants means around 1300 capacity for the tent.
Also previous grow La Bella yielded 120 (but it was a bit of a space invader) and grow lasted a bit longer: this one was just over 7 weeks.

There was also quite a bit of larf for the hashbin - ideally some better lolipopping and pruning of lowers but its hard to keep on pruning after 2nd week as cannopy gets quite dense.

Edit: yield numbers of the sides, the ones who only really had one spectrum as follows:
660: 63, 61, 57, 60.
680: 61, 58, 61, 59
No real difference

High outliers all in the middle.
