Random Stream of Consciousness

I have a 14x45 patio that I am working to put roof over. Using engineering rafter tables I chose 2x6x16 (13' between supports) for the rafters at 12" OC. The boards are from the Home-Depot crooked twisted forest, so I am having trouble getting them nailed down so they are straight and not twisted. Much easier to work with shorter rafters. Working alone so it is slow going. Although my nephews did help on pouring-the-concrete day. I'll get it eventually but it is frustrating. Been working on this for months now and can see the finish line ahead. Five steps forward, two steps back just to ensure it is robust.

From what I have seen rafters are usually 2' OC, a little late now however.

I built a deck out of redwood from home Depot. I hand picked every piece for straightness.[ never let a machinist work with wood but I digress].
What they delivered was not my wood, it was so warped and twisted it should have been thrown away. I refused delivery and called up the manager and chewed his ass out good. They had sold my order which I had left at the special service desk per instructions, and just gathered up what they had left. I had to go to another location to find enough straight pieces.
