9 plants (6 strains) in a 2x2 tent

@Laughing Grass
I use a spray bottle to remove the pearlite, and place the pearlite back into the tray for future use. 🤯

Hey bud cannabiscrusader told me to top my plant at sixth node and I have a kush also that popped same time that is at fifth. Should I just top smaller one along with. I was curious when you top. I was told year's ago to top at fifth and this person kept topping for at least couple more times but those were going outside. Mine are going in a closet 7ft tall,4ft long,2ft wide. Soil grow for medium, just if needed info.

Hope that helps 😁

Thanks,I knew how just was curious, and those are clones? Was wondering from seed, about what's better fifth or sixth node high. Sorry for confusion. This is the one I topped just now at sixth the small one is on fifth. Plus this leaf and another doesn't look the healthiest I know will be pruned off any way just hope isn't disease. The tent is a mini one for veg with a vent just on bottom that I leave open and temps only get to 70, at night to 65 ish so I know stunted from this hopefully closet will go better.

Looks good to me. I would consider transplanting them into bigger pots soon.

Week 5 on 12/12
Everything is looking good. Plants are liking the watering schedule. 1cup of water every day. Half a cup into the tray and the other half over top soil.

Both SFV OG clones are drinking 2 cups of water a day. The root system must be massive at this point. Ive noticed bananas on both plants, but no seed development. This sterile banana gene is annoying. When this plant was grown in the greenhouse, it did not throw bananas. So, its being caused by some indoor environmental stressor. Not sure what is causing it, but it honestly doesn't matter to me. Its going to take a few years to stabilize this strain again.

The purple VI is also throwing sterile bananas 🙃. I did pollinate one bud with SSH. The Silver Haze male that is in the living room finally started dropping pollen. I'm really tempted to run all of the F1 VI x SSH seeds in the greenhouse this year. I have tentative plans to do a sea of green in the greenhouse, testing 200 beans of the F4 VI, but I might split the count 50/50.... 100 F1 PVI x SSH and 100 F4 VI. 🤔

Last but not least, the Amnesia is looking happy and on point! 😁 I noticed 3-4 seeds developing on the cola, but that is just stray pollen from the controlled pollination that took place 2 weeks ago.

Thats all for now. Cheers

I can't get over how beautiful that purple VI is!
Shes a keeper, for sure. Its putting on some weight too, heavy yielder.

I was reading that through proper selection, hermaphrodite expression decreases by 5-10% every generation. Considering that the MTF has the tendency to throw sterile bananas, I think that means ive reduce that genetic expression by 20-40% in the F4 lot. I will have reduced this rodelization tendency by 40-80% when I cube the strain. The purple father is super hardy and incredibly stable.

I think the SSH x Purp VI (F1) is going to be one of the best crosses ive done. The two plants seem highly compatible. Im probably going to devote the next decade to this one strain. I have a strong feeling that its going to be easy finding a purple male that is SSH dominant.
One thing that I need to do for this project, is find a stable purple MTF male. I have a massive stock of seeds from the MTF x Purple VI male. The MTF mother (below 👇) was beautiful. She had a faint purple in the calyxes and threw some pink pistils. Medium sized plant, slow vegging, with massive buds.

You had me at Chocolate!
I have hundreds of seeds from the deep purple VI x purple VI father. Technically the seeds are
F4 (MTF x SFV OG)
Happy to share the seeds with anyone who is willing to do a pheno hunt. Just keep in mind, the purple mother is currently throwing sterile bananas, indoors. There is a chance of coming across a plant in the F4 lot that has fertile Anthers (technical word for bananas).

The purple wasn't as profound, when I grew it the greenhouse. Im not sure why its more vibrant indoors, but its a cut of the same plant.

Week 6 on 12/12.
Im reducing light by 30min for week 6. Will reduce 30min every week that follows, until plants finish.
Expecting 9-10 weeks for all plants.

Everything is swelling up. The SFV OG reeks of bubble gum 😍

The only exciting thing to report is that the SSH cross pollination was a success. I will probably end up with 40-60 seeds from this purple plant.
IMG_20250223_214711392_HDR.webp

The purple plant in the living room is also being pollinated and it will produce over 300 seeds. Those seeds will develop a lot slower because it doesn't receive adequate lighting. The seeds should still finish before its time to start sowing seeds in the greenhouse.

Thats all for now.
Cheers

Was poking around in the greenhouse checking out all the volunteers. I spotted a really interesting seedling with a webbed leaf mutation.
I dug it up and brought it indoors. Its most likely a seedling from the purple sativa, since those are the main seeds I tossed into the bed, last fall.

A clone of the deep purple VI has been fully pollinated by SSH male. I have tossed the plant outdoors, so that the environmental stressors impact the embryonic development.

Epigenetic modifications: Environmental factors, such as climate, can induce epigenetic changes in the parent plant’s genes. These changes can be passed on to the seed through mechanisms like DNA methylation and histone modification.

Plants can undergo rapid evolution over a few generations in response to strong selective pressures. I have technically been working this strain outdoors for at least 6-7 years. I worked the F2 indoors over the course of 3 years. Totaling almost 10 years of dedication to breeding a fast finishing strain that is well adapted to the PNW.
Time flies when you’re having fun …

Week 7
Im reducing light by another 30min.
Forgot to water yesterday, and everything looked a little heat stressed and wilting. LOL!
I top dressed 1 tbsp of 4-4-4 pellets. That will be the last dose they get. I will try to push everything to week 9, but im unsure if they have it in them to go that long.

I was in the greenhouse looking at the F4 plants I tossed in there a few weeks ago. 5 out of 6 plants have a deep purple pheno. 1 female, 5 males.
Its going to be super exciting going through the F4 lot. Im going to find some incredible plants.

I know I could ask AI but I noticed when I open closet and check plants during afternoon or few hours before lights out, there is water drops on a couple leaves, just on a blade on few. Is that from transpiring and normal. Rh is only 48 highest 52. Plus I need a fan for air movement exhaust doesn't kick on much yet. Thanks bud, just curious

Your RH levels are good 👍. I see some water on plant leaves, when they overlap. It is just transpiration.
I wouldn't worry about it, unless you notice powder mildew. When you flower the plants, putting a small fan in there for air movement will help a lot. Exhaust or intake will also help.

The current crop I have going really stinks. The filter is helping a little bit, but the Amnesia is a citrus pungent menace. 😄

That's exactly why I asked because of PM having wet drops on buds when I switch, thank you I'll be getting a small fan and get exhaust going more. Yea smell isn't bad yet I was thinking of running flex duct outside closet down into a carbon filter like just about five ft. Hopefully works, shows in instructions so, just easier and more room than hanging inside.

I was doing some research, and I recently discovered something that reassured my ongoing hypothesis regarding the rodelization (bananas) tendency of the MTF.
A seasoned grower proved that some of the old school skunk genetics are sensitive to high ppfd LED. The scientific explanation as to why this is, remains unknown. I haven't found any credible information regarding this phenomenon. The grower did however demonstrated that flowering under lower ppfd prevented rodelization for the old school skunk that he likes to grow.

Other theories include:
_ when the plant becomes root bound, it triggers rhodelization.
(I am growing plants in small pots, indoors. When I grow them outdoors, they have unlimited space for root growth.)

_ Fertilizers can cause rhodelization as well.

Further research lead me to the agreed consensus that fast flowering genes, (typically associated with the ruderalis variety) tend to produce more sensitive plants in general.

The goal of my breeding project is to produce a fast finishing strain that is well adapted to the PNW. By selecting the fast finishing plants, it is possible that I have unknowingly been breeding plants that are sensitive to One or All of the stressors mentioned above.

The fact is that the female plants I recently selected to produce the F4 lot, do not throw bananas when grown outdoors. Indoors, they are throwing bananas at week 5. The pollen is sterile, which is comforting. However, I must adjust my approach to the selection process.

Growing in the greenhouse: I was planning to select 3-4 plants out of 100. However, I think it would be best if I select 8-12 plants. This increases the likelihood of finding a vigorous, stable, plant that will not throw bananas when grown indoors.
I am thoroughly stress testing the plants I breed with.
** It is really important that this step is not avoided.

Ps. I am resisting the temptation to use technical language, so the laymen benefits from my findings.
