I have 3 objectives.
1. Cross SSH with Purple Valley Ice
2. Cross MTF with TLT Malawi Gold
3. Make more SSH and Malawi seeds.

The males are in my living room, chilling on the windowsill. I will collect the pollen and brush it on the females when they are in week 3 or 4 of flower.

Cheers

This next bit of information will be rather interesting to many of you. I kept staring at the tallest Malawi and I couldn't shake the feeling that it needed to be much shorter. I pulled her out of the pot and decided to bend her in half, then place her back in the pot. I now have a super short compact MALAWI. I feel much better about this adjustment. Im less likely to run out of height space when she starts flowering.

Below you will see the Malawi in the far left corner. Before and after. Quite the height difference.1738179464069.webp

Well friends... The Silver Haze has been taken out of the flower tent. Ive done all I can to stunt the growth of the other plants, in order to give SSH a chance to fill out. Unfortunately she is growing really slow. She will have to wait in the veg tent until the next cycle. Also, I think it might be hungry for some magnesium. Its really strange to see one plant completely reject my soil mix. Everything else is starting to go "Beast Mode". LOL
The two cuttings I took off her, have rooted. So in the next cycle I will be able to run at least three healthy SSH. I will most likely repot this troubled plant, once she puts on some weight.

I decided to throw into the flower tent another Amnesia Haze clone. I was able to take 4 good cuttings before setting her up.

I did some more training and super cropped the F1 Brandywine x Valley Ice. The stem smells like burnt rubber with really faint mint. I haven't a clue how the flowers are going to turn out. Its unlike either of the parents.
1738179761865.webp
I think ive done a great job training both Malawi plants. Ive pinched the top buds multiple times, removed some small branches, and right now she looks ready to explode with growth. I went pretty light on the nutes, but apparently I could have gone even lighter. The Malawi clones, however, look super happy. The only thing I did with those was sprinkle a few 4-4-4 pellets. Its ridiculous how little this landrace plant needs.

All the plants have roots popping out the bottom of the pots. Looks like they have finally grown into the new soil. I probably have 1 week at the most before I flip them to 11/13. I want both Amnesia Haze clones to fill out just a little more. Things are about to get crowded in there. LOL
1738179949018.webp
Both of the SFV OG took the hot loaded soil like true champions, just like the vigorous purple Valley Ice from my last run. These are the type of plants that I like to breed with. True weeds in a sense... Relentless and robust.

Cheers

Day 1 on 11/13
All except the Amnesia Haze are ready for the flip. Those two plants will just end up smaller than the rest. Oh well. Also noticed that one of the Amnesia needed some more N, so I sprinkled half a tsp over the top soil before watering. It should do the trick.

Right now everything is getting 1cup of water every 3 days.

Week 1 on 11/13

They are drinking a cup of water every 2 days. Everything is looking good.
1738180062844.webp
Ive taken out the F1 Brandywine x Valley Ice. It turned out to be a male! I was certain that it was a female. I guess the SFV OG clones can now have a little more room to spread out.

Week 2 on 11/13
The stretch on one of the Malawi is ridiculous. Looks like a haze.
1738180281424.webp
1738180294545.webp
The Malawi below is doing quite well. Flowers are developing and the stretch isn't that bad.1738180324798.webp
The deep purple Valley Ice is developing faster than everything else. That is a trait of the MTF. Its a fast finisher.1738180355921.webp
Below is the Amnesia Haze. Flowers are developing nicely. 1738180386365.webp

SFV OG is a little behind on flower development. Probably a 10 week flower cycle, by the looks of it. Both SFV OG clones are drinking a cup of water every other day. The roots are insane. Im going to lightly top dress everything tomorrow.1738180417218.webp

When I water the plants, I take them out of the tent and inspect them deeply around this stage of flower. I noticed that both Malawi plants are hermaphrodites. 😰
I guess I have to pop more seeds until I find one that isn't a hermaphrodite. I also have some Malawi seeds from ACE. I might give those a try as well.

There are now only 6 plants in the tent. 🙃
-2 Amnesia Haze
-2 Deep Purple VI
-2 SFV OG

Freaking super healthy man,got some skillz :thc::cool:

Given the circumstances, I have decided to proceed with the cross pollination in a desperate attempt to preserve the genetics of the Malawi. I am crossing the Malawi with an MTF male that is incredibly stable and has a really short flowering cycle. This will be a long and complex breeding project.

I have pruned back one of the Malawi clones, transplanted it, and it will be flowered in the living room windowsill. I have done a few successful controlled pollinations this way.

The MTF male clone is already deep into flower. I will be collecting and storing the pollen. I will also be taking a fresh MTF cutting from the father, root and flower it asap. It will serve as a back up, just in case the stored pollen goes bad.

Week 3
Switching light cycle to 12/12 for the next 4 weeks. The last 3 weeks of flower, I will gradually reduce light by 1 hour weekly. Im curious to see what happens.

I top dressed half a tablespoon of 4-4-4 pellets last Sunday. Today I noticed some of the lower fan leaves starting to fade on three of the plants. Im going to top dress 1 teaspoon of blood meal today.
Watering 1 cup every other day. All the plants are really liking that schedule and portions.

The Amnesia Haze stretched more than the other plants. Pretty surprised by that. Both Amnesia plants were significantly smaller than the rest, yet now they are they tallest. 😄 I will be keeping a cut of this plant for a while. It is super stable and practically impossible to induce rhodelization through any form of stress. I put the mom through the ringer and she kept growing undisturbed. Also, the terps are one of my favorites. Sandalwood and citrus. Its such a simple and delicious terp profile.
IMG_20250202_133217716_HDR.webp
I made F2 seeds but I harvested the plant a little too early. So the seeds look premature. I'm going to flower clones of both dad & mom of the Amnesia Haze to make better seeds. The Amnesia male is incredibly vigorous, but it did throw female pistils when I light stressed it. Ideally, the father plant should not do this. My plan is to find a stable male in the F2 lot, to continue refining this strain. I dont have a name for it yet.
Both MTF and Valley Ice males that ive kept, do not throw female pistils when I light stress them. This is a simple way to test a male and see if it is stable or not. Incidentally, I successfully pollinated two small branches of the Amnesia with my purple Valley Ice male. Curious to see what happens. ⬇️ IMG_20250202_131445142.webp

Thats all for now.
Cheers

purple valley ice that early onset purple is a cool genetic trait i had that same trait on some purple kush that i crossed with grand daddy purp one time. although the purple plant i seen that on was not sativa leaning but was a very slow growing short plant that liked staying close to the ground almost like a vine.

That sounds like a good pheno for indoors. Short and squatty. The slow growing gene can be pretty annoying. Ive seen my fair share of that.

Im planning to cross this purple pheno with SSH. The SSH male is just starting to flower. Its sort of a cliche, but I want to make my own version of a true Purple Haze. I haven't found anything remotely similar to the Purple Haze that my friend grew outdoors, back in 2010. It was an enormous Christmas tree with chunky frosted purple flowers. Not exaggerating when I say its one of the most beautiful outdoor plants ive ever seen.
Its going to be a pretty long project, but im hoping that luck is on my side and I find a dark purple male in the F1 lot. I will back cross to the SSH mother. She is freaking beautiful.
Unfortunately, none of the SSH males that popped up have attractive traits. Im all out of seeds, so the males are just there to help make more SSH seeds... for the hunt. 😎
Im currently keeping 2 SSH males. One of them looks like a haze with a strong skunk influence. The other male is kind of bizarre, it doeesn't look like a haze at all. Its small and compact, but it has a really distinct serrated leaf. Im going to use that male for a different cross with the vigorous F3 Valley Ice mother. I think it will be easy to isolate the serrated leaf trait and stabilize it within 3-4 back crosses. ⬇️17385510405021596803042600574980.webp
Side by side, its easy to see the distinction in the serration. ⬇️

Below is the SSH female 😍
Im going to attempt breeding the narrow Malawi leaf into "my" version of Purple Haze.

This part of the project will most likely be the very last phase. Its going to take some serious work to breed out the hermi gene from the Malawi. Im also hoping that the MTF male passes on all of its positive traits, especially its fast flowering genes.

Yea I was reading on RIU on gas lantern light by mimicking growing natural light by reducing light 30 minutes a week until you get to 9 hrs of light to end of flower. That and dimmed like sun is coming up then turn up to normal. Interested anyway what your schedule light will do. Learning stuff :thc:

The Male having some pistils I saw as well. Definitely a Sour Strawberries trait. Didn't negatively impact the genetics at all in my experience!
