Probably My Fault
So in my 5x5 I run a 600w mh vivosun air cooled hood.....totally open no glass. With a 6" fan taped to it. Like this.
Yes it does exhaust out the port there to the left. But turning everything off and taking it down, I realize that thing makes so much noise. This is why a fresh start is good. I might totally change everything....I might not, and only change small things. Like a section of tubing to separate the fan from the hood. Then the vibration can't resonate through the hood. My other 600 is setup the same but is a hps that has the glass in and has a section of ducting after...greatly reducing the noise. I bet I could quite that down as well with a small section between the fan and hood. I never really cared about smell or noise but I also guess I didn't realize how much nicer it could be....quiet. This setup has been perpetual for a number of years.

It'll definitely help. It's not crazy loud, but definitely noticeable now that it's off. I'd add the glass too but I remember that I liked the venting better, like a big vacuum hood. No glass turns it into a speaker lol
I have ac infinity sound reducers. Basically a canister filled with foam downstream from the fan. Easily mcguyvered I bet
Also, a rubber collar from the plumbing department will do ya
little tent.
