Does a warm March signal an unbearable summer?
No, our "rainy season" is not over until April but I have seen years where it rains into June. There is always a possibilty of this pattern shifting back to winter weather, but it seems unlikely this year. Our heatwaves get broken by small disturbances creating an onshore flow through the delta that brings in coastal cooler air. The farther from the delta you are the less it affects temps.

Ive gone back to voodoo witch doctors for the weather reports.
The college station I listen to has taped shows, 2 to 10 year out of date weather, so I never know whats going on. I usually wait till general panic boils over before finding out anything.

I have seen times we didn't get rain for over 3+ months. May and June are our driest months for rain. After that, high summer heat can draw up monsoon weather from the south thankfully. Humidity swings from <10% to 90% daily are common then.
It's not unsusal for us to go 6 months without rain. Monsoonal moisture typically doesn't make it this far north, but we had a year where half the state was on fire from dry lightning so it happens.

I had to drive hours to work on ICBM sites in Kansas so knowing if the clouds were going to attack was self preservation.

They had air raid sirens everywhere when I lived in Kansas.
You never knew if it was escaped convicts, tornados or nukes.
Never seen a place with more escaped convicts and tornados and nukes.
I hated the f%$#@ cellar! It was a short hole in the ground, you couldn't stand up!

The only thing I knew of the sirens being used for was tornado warnings.
