One of the big mistakes I made early on was thinking I was some kind of expert. I read Bruce Bigbee and I was an expert. Anybody need 39.9 lbs of powdered dolomitic lime by the way?
Yes it is a good idea to research as much as you can before getting started. No that is not the same as actual hands in the dirt experience.
Rare is the person that can learn from someone else's mistake. Listen and learn, there are some very talented growers on this and other sites.
Don't get into this thinking you're going to reinvent the wheel.

I started with the same guy when figuring out soil mixes and things to do. I quoted him a few times and got called out saying that's from Bigbee, don't do that,lol. I almost bought that lime. Still outdoors is hard not to do a few in my climate, just dependent on weather towards end.
