Freeze Drying Cannabis: My First Harvest Right Freeze Dryer Adventure

I’m doing a test batch with one small cola. Had to squish it down a bit to fit into the rack lol.

i have a question, what humidity level is the flower when it comes out of the machine? do you jar it afterwards and put a boveda pack in the jar. im still having a hard time wrapping my head around this live dried stuff. i have also been eyeing the freeze drier at costco lol.

I just put a hygrometer in there to see, but it's somewhere around 0%. It's very delicate and you can crush it in your hand. It's perfectly cured and ready to smoke so no need to jar or further cure. I supposed you could put a boveda pack in a raise the humidity. That is the one issue I see with FD cannabis, if you're going for weight, it's going to be a problem.

I made a bit of an oopsie last night. Pulled it a bit early. it felt done but as soon as it thawed I could tell it was still moist in the center of the buds, these are dense like rocks, needed an extra 12 hours dry time. They're perfect this morning.

your right im totally going for weight. will you be doing any other fun stuff like freezing your trim your trim / flower -> ice water extraction -> kief in freeze drier -> full melt hash or rosin does the rosin go back in the freeze drier? idk. i remember curious2garden had a cool picture of some extract she made looked like yellow glass in a jar. i want to say the strain was putang or something by the breeder mass medical

I should get some bubble bags and wash my permanent marker crop. Do a freeze dry and press.

I had a service call this morning with Harvestright because my FD went south during a software update. Endless boot loop ensued and eventually a dead dark machine. Turns out it's a known issue and they will cover the repair even out of warranty. They're deciding whether to send me a new cpu or have me send them the whole electronics module and service it themselves. But their warehouse is closing between New year and February so it will be a while. Better than owning a 40Kg doorstop.

Mass. Medical Golden Putang and she was fabulous!! Yes I bubbled washed the entire plant, freeze dried the trichome return and then pressed it. Get the FD LOL so worth it. Also FD weed is about 0% humidity. That's why it smokes so smoothly, water is an abrasive lol.

Anyway without further ado this is what just came out for Christmas.

This is what I grew and where I got the seeds:

It's definitely GG#4.

Total of 46 hours 27 minutes for a large load. Total gram weight on removal from FD is 193 grams. They will re-hydrate at about 40% and then go into sealed vacuumed bags with a couple handfuls for smoking into a Mason Jar.

One of my vacuum fittings failed. We had a phone call within a day or two and I had the parts in about 10 days. They have been a really good company to deal with, so far lol.

They have been prompt to reply. They are offering me a replacement cpu to install 'at half cost' even though during my telemeeting with them they said it was a known issue with the software update. I've responded that I bought THEIR software in good faith it would not damage my fully functioning machine but it did. The software alone is $70 and they did not say what half the cpu cost will be. My feeling is they broke it not me. I'll pay half but it better come with the upgraded software preinstalled.
