So long 2024... don't let door hit your ass on the way out.

Chevy vs Ford
I have bought only Miller machines since I started in 1978. Used just about every type out there, but always found Miller in the better shops.
Think I have had the suitcase tig machine for close to 20 years now. I have a class tomorrow for my trainee and my son first time for him, after all these years he decided he wanted to try it.

A point of view that I believe to provide service you need proper tools and with that be able to charge a higher rate. Who would you want to pay 150 an hour to, a guy with a HF welder and a bucket of HF tools or a technician with a toolbox filled with Snap On, Fluke meters and Miller welder?

@koikeeper Dynasty?

Copper art work that got killed in storm.
was another method teaching trainee who plans to build art work

The original purpose was for repairing tube chassis they are Silcone bronze brased in the UK when made.

I asked because I've also used it a lot. But I tig with it not mig. All art and home furnishings. What kind of chassis are you working with? Bicycles?

Really..... :smokin:

Honestly I don’t trust a guy with shinny tools of any brand. I’ll feel better about a guy with a beat up truck and wore out equipment. I’ve been in construction my whole life…like literally…. my family is in construction so I’ve been on the job since I could walk. My step dad was a structural and pipe welder, I fitted for him when we worked together. He did all the welding so when I welded it didn’t exactly measure up. I’m not a professional but I get done what I need to. I’ve got a stick and a mig rig now I sold my tig stuff back when the economy was in the shitter.

Nice. Looks like fun. Would you mind sharing a few of your welds?
I have none of those pictures. Most of the time at the track it is a rush to get it back together pictures are last thing on anyone's mind.
There might be some marine stainless repair picture about. Most of the race car guys don't like to share damage photos.

My shinny Snap On tools have a date code from the 70's. The guys I have dealt with that own 100k+ vintage racing cars want a bit of a show. They can't afford rounded fasteners. Guys that run pro racing want quality. Little things ruin race weekends. If you are good and successful the image you project should be new Vehicle and proper equipment. I did data acquisition for the last ten years before I retired. Drivers paid my prices because I stocked proper wiring repair equipment not the stuff you get at HF or any discount store. If I pulled out a HF meter to measure something I would be laughed out of the race track.

Not sure why you keep mentioning hf . But you are right if I saw you break out the hf stuff I would would laugh too, even if it was a shovel.
