While big ass hats can be a blast there is few things as sublime as the insult of Asshat - to me it insinuates the image of someone actually climbing into an ass, head first- rather than just adorning your headwear with a pair of buttocks. Its the most satisfying name to call any internet idiot.
Ha! You just reminded me 'big ass' is a modifier of 'hat' just as big is a modifier of asshat. So you could be a big ass ass hat.

Thats technically not the same thing, what youre describing is a big double-assed hat (like the pic but with 4 buttocks), if you want an asshat you need to add more ass, closer by the hat.
...and nobody really needs 4 buttocks. Imagine having to spank that youd need hands like tennis rackets. Theres no need for 4.
