Okay, I've been having some fun with numbers to figure out the humidity post chop.

You're a numbers guy @Shane Karmann so you might find this interesting.

Two Plants hang dried in the same space at the same temps & conditions.

Harlequin:
Hang dried for 7 days
Internal branch moisture meter reading of 18%
Trimmed & jarred same day
Internal Humidity in jar 24 hr after trim - 47%

G13:
Hang dried 10 days
Internal branch moisture meter reading of 29%
Trimmed & jarred same day
Internal humidity in jar 24 hr after trim - 61%

So what have we gleaned from this? Well, for one, if a process calls for 11% branch moisture (lookin' at you grove bags), that is gonna be dust.

With four plants still to be chopped, I’m glad I’m looking at the math, because it doesn’t math.

Bookmarked. Interesting.

What conclusions have you made? How will you adjust for next round? My mind would imagine there are variables not being considered in play here and I would fret over it until they are all jarred smoked. :eyesmoke:
That’s the conundrum, there isn’t really a definitive conclusion.

The variables off the top would be the plants themselves. Different strains and compositions will account for some variance naturally I’d imagine. Bud structure, density etc.

That said, the G13 was a much smaller plant so that could be a contributing factor.

For the next four plants, I guess I’ll start taking wood meter readings at day 4-5 of the dry. Hell, I could also ditch the meter and just go back to the ‘ol 7 day dry, trim & jar.

The consistency of the inconsistency is frustrating.
