The big tent has been down for a couple months. I was inspired by Shane to take advantage of the downtime to improve my environment. I'm growing in a cold, unfinished Ontario basement. My room is 11x9 and i have 5x5 and 3x3 tent crammed in there. My 5x5 is in the corner, against two exterior concrete walls. I added a 1500W heater to the room and it did a good job of keeping the room toasty warm, however it did not solve my lights out cold issue. While the room was hovering at 75 degrees, my tent was holding 66-67 degrees during lights out. I run my lights on temps around 82 degrees, so I was having a temperature swing of 15-16 degrees and huge humidity spikes.
First upgrade I made was adding 2.25" rigid foam insulation on the floor and walls surrounding the tent. That upgrade alone solved my radiant cold issue. Temps at lights out stopped crashing, temperature gracefully drops now and humidity gently rises. I dropped the temperature of my lung room to 71 degrees and I'm now using an AC infinity T3 heater to to top up the heat in the tent if it drops below 71.
Last upgrade, and it's a big one, my light. Previously I was running two HLG 350R with a combined wattage of 660w. The new light is a AC Infinity Ionframe EVO10 1000W. It's a 44" x 44" monster lol. I've been growing with quantum boards since I started so bar lights will be a new experience. This light is a bit much to manage so I'll be running it at a fixed height and using intensity to manage ppfd for small plants. Currently set to 6 and I'm getting 500ppfd ll with 8" plants. Using the AC infinity controller I've have it set to replicate sunrise/sunset, where the lights slowly ramp up and down during lights on and off.
I transplanted my clones yesterday, and they seem to be loving the changes.
