I love wandering around Home Depot aimlessly until inspiration smacks me in the face. 😄 This might be my favorite DIY hack yet:

I built a SCROG net using drop ceiling T-bars and wall hangers — totally modular, super clean, and I could pop it in and out as needed. Honestly, it worked way better than anything I could’ve bought.

Alright, your turn —

Doesn’t matter if it’s genius or janky — if it works, it works

Really clean look, how does it stay in place?

I use the 2 gallon floraflex pots and use the Home Depot tomato cages. I cut the legs off and tie-strap them to the corners. Makes moving things around easier.

Looking forward to some ideas to make things easier for us old/damaged guys!

After this crop finishes in early June, the plan is to tear out existing grow room in garage and build bigger/taller one. The main reason is for access around all the plants and elevated so I can sit on a wheeled shop stool. Also to reconfigure floor to handle leaks better among other improvements. This room has been operational as-is for 4-5 years at 2-3 crops per year so time for a change/upgrade.

Just got a new screener and a hori hori knife for recyling growing medium.
Makes really short work of separating, breaking apart the root balls, recovering most the perlite.
That screen gets most the roots, despite the size. They just kind of clump together after a beating with the hori hori.

I may need to steal this set up.
A couple questions though, How stable are the cages, what is the remaining height of the cages above the pots, and are you using the 42" cages ?

I've been using these

with zip tie mounts , pots drilled & mounts zip tied to pot, then cage zipped to mount.

they work, but not as well as I'd like, more wobble & hard to install/set up

Yes I use the 42” cages with three rings. I cut the legs off just below the lowest ring. Zip tie the ring at the corners of the pots using the holes already there. The cages are very stable and I lift the pots using the cages. I think the cage extends about 36” above the pot but I can measure the height above the pots if needed. I have also used bamboo stakes, secured to the cage, to provide bud support above the cages. Also considered using zip ties to secure another cage on top for more height but chose to try harder to keep things short enough that isn’t necessary. I also considered making my own cages using rolled up wire fencing. Hope that makes sense and I can provide photos and accurate measurements if needed.

I could not come up with anything 3d printed that wouldn't take forever for a large number of pots.

I like this idea too!
